“I was recommended Chris Bramah (Extra Mile Health) by my running coach. Prior to Chris’s treatment I had suffered constantly with hypermobility syndrome. This was made worse by running - which I loved. I was in constant pain every day and found day to day tasks challenging. I went to Chris as a last resort, in the hope that I could live relatively pain free. What I did not expect was that after a few months of treatment/working alongside Chris in the gym, I would to be back running and running better than before! “My husband visited the Burnley clinic after having severe sciatica pain for several weeks. He was able to book a fast appointment within a few days. The service was fantastic from start to finish. Dr Akhtar was very professional and put him at ease. He was very thorough and got straight to the problem which was a slipped disc on the sciatic nerve. After the initial consultation my husband went back for a spinal injection. He found it was better to have a few days rest off work to enable recovery. A few years before I’d already done Invisalign braces, which worked initially but I didn’t realise that I’d have to wear the retainers for the rest of my days. Unfortunately I didn’t wear them, so they went wonky again. My decision to go down the route of veneers was not one I took lightly. After a lot of research I knew I was making the right decision with Dr Joe Oliver. He is an absolute subject matter expert in the area of cosmetic dentistry with over 25+ years experience. This instantly reassured me, knowing that this all he focuses on day in day out ! My initial call with the wonderful Kerstie both put me at ease but most importantly gave me the confidence to proceed with the £85 consultation. I was excited when I left the initial visit with Dr Oliver with a picture of how it could look. We discussed all options, but I knew that veneers were the way forward for me. I was even more pleased that it wasn’t as many initial teeth as I thought ! The procedure wasn’t as painful as I expected. I’ll be honest, it took some time, a lot of noise but no real pain !!! The outcome was a set of temporaries that gave a great impression of what was to come. I wish I had known then how much better the final veneers were going to be ! They are one set vs separate veneers that you get at the final stage. The great thing is this gives you time to work out what you like, or what you’d like to tweak, and then you discuss what colour you want your final veneers to be. Dr Oliver was really accessible by phone / email to discuss any amends. The final veneers were such a move forward from the temporaries and looked fantastic. It’s not like braces where you have time to adjust so be prepared for the big reveal in one go. Amazing !! I have been really impressed with the post care. Dr Oliver ensured that any adjustments that were required were dealt with as soon as possible, and I’ve always managed to see him in Manchester or London. I could not be more delighted with my new smile, especially when people don’t notice because it’s so natural, or when they do and I eagerly show them the before and after pictures! “I cannot praise this place enough I attended recently & was amazed at the fast service I received. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and I felt went out of their way to help. I missed calls from the doctor as I was driving home on the motorway so was unable to answer my phone. I rang the walk in centre back & explained and they contacted the doctor again on my behalf. This was about 5 mins before they were due to close & still I didn’t feel like a burden to them. This is the best NHS service I’ve received. I won’t hesitate to make this my first stop next time I need medical help. 5***** service & 5***** staff.”

“All GP practices are strained at the moment, and access to appointments and services has been a little slower and more difficult than anyone would like - however, I truly think that the team at City Health are a group of really lovely people who care about what they do. I have only accessed the centre via phone/online, as I haven’t requested any in-person appointments as of yet, so I can’t comment on the quality of in-centre service. However, I have had very positive experiences when using online and phone consults, and when requesting repeat prescriptions. Mike, the mental health nurse here, is an absolute credit to the team. He is incredibly personable, funny (when appropriate!), and has really taken time to listen to me discuss my symptoms and experience as a self-diagnosed autistic person. After my last practice messed up my formal autism diagnosis referral, Mike called me and took the time to explain the process and timeline for me, ensuring I understood exactly what the process would entail and assuring me City Health would pass on my referral to the appropriate service after my last GP practice messed it up. Lo and behold, just a couple of weeks later I received my letter in the post confirming my referral to our local autism service. Mike has also regularly checked in with me about my medication and how I’m doing in general. I have truly never felt more valued and listened to by a health professional as I have by Mike. Even in this really difficult time for healthcare professionals and nurses in particular, he is clear, friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and will give you all the time in the world. He has been a massive help in my journey of realising in adulthood that I am likely autistic; without his knowledge and friendliness, I don’t think I would have been able to continue to pursue formal diagnosis due to negative experiences with other practices in the past. If you have any mental health concerns or want to request any referrals for neurological or psychological diagnostic services, I can highly recommend City Health. Let’s hope that the government begins to see the value in teams like this one and begins to give them the resources they need.”
