University Of New Orleans Lakefront Arena Parking Lot
● OpenThe University of New Orleans Lakefront Arena Parking Lot is currently being used as a drive-through testing site for COVID-19 in New Orleans, Louisiana. This site, along with another location at Mahalia Jackson Theater Parking Lot, is open to health care facility workers and first responders who have symptoms of the virus. The testing sites are limited to 100 tests per day per site and individuals must arrive by car. People are required to provide proof of identification, health insurance information, and a health care facility or first responder badge. However, testing is available to individuals regardless of insurance coverage and there is no charge for the test. Results are expected to take three to five days. The sites are being run by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the City of New Orleans, and the Louisiana National Guard. The goal is to test 100 people per day at each site. This initiative is aimed at informing future testing efforts and is a pilot program in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
