Ashland-Belle Helene Plantation
β OpenAshland-Belle Helene Plantation, also known as Ashland Plantation, is a historic building located in Darrow, Louisiana. Built in 1841, the plantation estate was once the home of Duncan Farrar Kenner and is a fine example of antebellum Greek Revival architecture. The manor house, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, features a grand design with 28 columns, Italian-marble fireplaces, and wide galleries on both floors. The estate, surrounded by the Shell Chemical, LP, Geismar plant, has a rich history dating back to the 1830s when it was established as a sugar plantation by William Kenner and Philip Minor. Over the years, the property expanded to include several other plantations, and was eventually named Ashland Plantation by Duncan Kenner in 1844. The mansion has undergone several periods of restoration, with the most recent one completed in 2015 by Shell Chemicals LP, Geismar. Today, the estate is used for private corporate and employee functions and has been featured in various movies, adding to its cultural significance."
