Closed in observance of Easter Sunday, the plantation reopens with normal business hours the following day. Established in 1787 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Destrehan Plantation is the oldest documented plantation home in the lower Mississippi Valley. The plantation offers downloadable audio tours in multiple languages, allowing visitors to learn about the lives of both the plantation owners and the enslaved individuals who played a vital role in its history.
