-

-
The Holy Tavern
● Closed“A unique and very special London pub experience. Fresh beer straight from the barrel in a historic building that makes you think that Pepys and Dickens might walk in any second. Decent pork pies, too!”
-
The Union Tavern
● Closed“Charming old wood floor Victorian pub in the calm eye of the hurricane which is London, and notably the best “mushy peas” in the the U.K., and that’s because they’re not mushy but homemade by a culinarian, ask for extra if you get the fish and chips. My only criticism was the vinegar for the chips was lacking. Imagine they were aiming for something unique and could’ve addressed it if I asked. Also a great place for a conversation as they don’t blare music, just some soft R&B, Van Morrison and occasional alternative tune in the background.”

Ailsa Tavern
● Closed263 Saint Margarets Road, Twickenham TW1 1NJ, United Kingdom“Great British pub and food. Just one merry of staff on but what a guy. He was brilliant and couldn't have done more for us. Thank you.”

The Star Tavern, Belgravia
● Closed“The perfect pub. It’s hidden on an empty street. The facade is charming and inviting. Inside, the noise is bustling, spaces are cramped yet you can find your own place into which to nestle. The drink menu is extensive although when in traditional pubs I lean heavy towards draft beer. The food menu is interesting - I ordered the steak & ale pie. It was very good. I loved the au jus. This place has loads of personality.”

The Effra Hall Tavern
● Closed38A Kellett Road, London SW2 1EB, United Kingdom“We came to watch the Portugal / Morocco world cup game. There was one guy manning the bar as the pub got progressively busier with minimal standing room let alone free tables. Every single one of us came back from ordering drinks commenting on the guy running the bar on his own, stunned at how good he was taking multiple orders, completely unphased by the increasing business around him. It was genuinely impressive and I can't praise how good he was enough! V strong selection of beers on tap, big screen for football, and a small outdoor area.”

The Boleyn Tavern
● Closed“Went here on a trip from peterborough to see our son and daughter in law, been looking forward to it since it has been done up. The truly traditional makeover is brilliant, little snugs, great choice of beers, staff so friendly and dog friendly, even a nice traditional fireplace. Not normally a sports pub as such I an told even though though back to the days of the West Ham games, but FIFA World Cup screened at the moment. We all had a meal too, not Michelin but it is pub grub after all , the Chicken Kiev was not good, Pork chops great and fish and chips average.. however just a great experience and place overall.”

The Nell Gwynne Tavern
● Closed“Very homely tiny pub with a very nice interior and a feel to it. Has a traditional pub-cum-dive bar feel to it with a good old smell of stale beer and alcohol soaked curtains flirting with mould. :) Really cool intimate place. Will definitely be bringing people here. Very unique.”

The North London Tavern
● Closed“North London Tavern is such a vibe! came here twice.. once for a gig and the live music was amazing! second time was for a work event and Dean was so accommodating. We all had such a lovely time and such a vibe! Definitely be back”

The Wells Tavern
● Closed“The Wells Tavern is one of Hampstead's best gastro pubs offering all that is needed to be a neighbourhood favourite including a great location, outside seating with heaters and large canopies, good service, tasty food and two floors offering formal and informal dinning. The prices are on the high end when compared to other areas of town, but it is part of the "Hampstead premium". The ground floor is a traditional bar with tables, sofas and all around dog friendliness. The food menu includes plates of chorizo with red pepper and gherkins, cod fishcakes, burgers and grilled tuna steak. Tables outside are at a premium when the sun shines. The upstairs is made up of three small dining rooms, with a more formal menu and setting. The scallops (£14.50) part of the starter menu where fresh and full of flavour, while the ribeye steak (£29.50) was tasty. The portion of chips could be larger but they were perfectly cooked. The duck leg (£19.85) was cooked perfectly.A great spot for drinks, a quick bite to eat or a more formal meal if you do not mind the premium prices.”

The Great Northern Railway Tavern, N8
● Closed“My husband and I celebrated our marriage at the pub in June, and the venue and everyone who works there were amazing! We wanted to say a huge thank you for such a great evening. They were very communicative, helped us plan the day, set up the beautiful room upstairs, provided great food and drink, and were a joy to have share our special day with!”

St John's Tavern
● Closed“Food and drinks were good! They had a great selection of desserts too., definitely worth a visit.”
-
The Pembury Tavern
● Closed“Staff is wonderful and the pub is big with lots of tables. We had pizza. Unfortunately for me the pizza was far too salty for my taste. They do put sesame seeds around the outside of the crust and it adds a wonderful nutty flavor. They have a good variety of different pizzas so give it a try.”
-
The Old Bell Tavern

-

Punch Tavern

The Viaduct Tavern, EC1
● Closed“Small, single room Victorian pub, directly opposite the Old Bailey; hence its former occupancy, forming part of Newgate Prison. Corner location and attractive curved front profile. Lots of natural light inside; enhanced by wall frescos, a high ceiling and ornate up-lighters. Fuller’s beers, craft ales and plenty of other drink options. Also one of the best gin selections I’ve ever seen - it was also formally a Gin Palace! The food options are fairly simple but still good. Friendly staff. All-in-all, definitely worth five stars.”
-
Trafalgar Tavern

Catford Bridge Tavern
● Closed“Great selection of drinks, had a gluten free menu for drinks too. Does cocktail deals at certain times. A few different screens dotted about showing sports and a pool table. Prices are very reasonable and lots of seating. Close to the station which is handy and close to the centre. Look out for the food specials too if nothing on the menu jumps out at you. Food menu is your pub favourites with a few others thrown in. Recommended.”
