ZSL London Zoo
● Open“Excellent place to visit with friends, family, kids, or even alone. There's a lot to see and to do so it's worthwhile to count on spending here at least 3-4 hours. The whole area of the zoo is well-kept, mostly accessible and easily walkable. There's a good availability of food, drink, restrooms, benches and other means for relaxation. The place can be easily visited and accessed both by car and public transportation. The staff was very friendly, engaging and shared a lot of useful and interesting information with us. It's definitely good value for money and a must see if you have the chance for visiting.”

Merlin Venues
● Open“Myself and 2 colleagues arranged a conference party for 500 people at the London Aquarium with the help of Merlin Events. We are junior doctors and not events organisers so had no experience with anything like this previously. Merlin were brilliant, they took all of the stress out of organising something like this. The venue was amazing and everyone had a great time (including us as we left the running of the night to the excellent onsite staff). The bar staff were great - no queuing up at the bar (they had multiple open) and music good. Compared to prices of other London venues that we were quoted they were also great value (and a much better venue). I would definitely hold an event at the aquarium with the support of Merlin if we did this again.”

Julie and Hannah were highly knowledgeable, approachable, patient and friendly. The party was well structured, run smoothly and animals very well handled and relaxed. I would also love to praise the care that was taken to make them as comfortable as possible during the party - it was great to see all animals chilled and happy. Puri was very helpful and advised us on the right animals for the age group. (4-7yo). The booking and payment process were easy. Children (and parents!) were mesmerised and loved it.”

Paradise Wildlife Park
● Open“This turned out to be a really enjoyable day out. The staff were very very friendly, the Keepers knew their animals and were happy to tell you about them. Nothing was too much trouble. The park was clean and kept clean the animals were wonderful and so enjoyable to watch. I'd like to thank the young lady with the porcupines, forgive me I can't remember your name, and Dennis with the Lions. The Speedway museum is closed on Mondays ( the day I went) but the young lady managed to ask somebody to open it especially for me to look in it, as I had gone to see it and also the animals. I recommend Paradise very, very highly, enjoyable day out, the staff are well trained and I cannot speak more highly of them. The food was good and reasonably priced, again with very happy to help staff. I came away very happy with my day out.”

Essex Wildlife Trust, Bedfords Park Nature Discovery Centre
● Open“Great park. Probably the best in the area to be honest. Long walks, great views and a real sense of being away from it all... even though it’s only 5 minutes away from the outskirts of Romford. Oh, plus the deer compound and the secret walled garden. Just to add to the allure!!! Update... they now have some new play equipment near the main car park. Fantastic!”

An outdoor learning area is currently being built. The ecology park is home to lots of wildlife including birds and insects. A wooden boardwalk takes you through the park and is a peaceful way to while away some time. Highly recommended.”

Bluewater Nature Trail
● OpenDartford, Greenhithe DA9 9SU, United Kingdom“Lovely little walk around the lake at the back of Bluewater. Wished I had known about it when my daughter was younger. "The very hungry caterpillar" trail to follow, answering questions along the way. Fact boards dotted about the trail with info on different wildlife around the site. Little wooden play area. Can feed the ducks/geese but signs say NO BREAD. Bird seed or defrosted peas is better. Will go again!”
-
Whipsnade Zoo
● Open“A great day out for couples! Plenty of space for a picnic or for a rest in general during sunny and warm days in between of walking around. Plenty to see- you need at least 8h to be able to see everything properly. I would suggest leaving early. There's plenty of free parking. There’s an option to convert your ticket to a membership for a low fee and then you can get more for your money if you like going to Zoo more then once a year.”

When I visited (January 2020) they had muntjacs, owls, a doe, sheep, rabbits, foxes, a pig, ring neck parrots, and heaps more. They don't receive any government funding and rely solely on the public for donations to continue their work. Please go along and support!”

Carshalton Water Tower & Historic Garden Trust
● Open“Fascinating slice of history, you can explore the suite of entertaining rooms, including the orangery, saloon, pump room and plunge bath. The garden space surrounding the building features an impressive hermitage grotto and "sham bridge", either end of what was originally a boating pond at the Western springhead of the River Wandle. The Water Tower is a unique Grade II listed early 18th century garden building sited in the grounds of Carshalton House in South London, built when the area was in the Surrey countryside, full of large houses owned by wealthy families. "As the name suggests, this contained a water-powered pump, which supplied water to Carshalton House and the fountains in its garden. However, the building was and is much more than this as it contains a suite of rooms such as the Saloon, the Orangery and a splendid early 18th century bathroom with a tile lined plunge bath. Aside from the Water Tower, there is the surrounding garden including the Hermitage and Folly Bridge. All this is managed voluntarily by the Friends of Water Tower & The Historic Garden Trust."”
