“Genuinely one of the best meals in my life. This was a special week away, otherwise I'd never think of eating at a restaurant like this but when I saw the set menu I was really surprised. I can't usually afford steak, and if i could it usually isn't great, but this was the best steak I've ever eaten and in the set menu, I got 3 courses for £20 (no extra charge for steak!). The starter was the mozerella flatbread which was basically just an entire pizza and absolutely delicious. Staff were friendly and service was so quick that we never had to sit long without anything. With york becoming such a tourist trap, and plenty of places charging so much money for below average food, this place really made me feel happy, especially for the price I paid for the meal. “This was my first visit and experience at The Ivy and I can confirm it was brilliant. On arrival we were greeted with a friendly hello, coats taken and shown straight to our table. No messing. The service was very good and we were well looked after. It was very busy but you could tell the staff had things under control. The food is lovely. A highlight was the burger and chips. A simple dish but made very well. The eggs are runny and cooked just how I like them. You pay for what you get here. Even if you only experience it once, it's worth it”

“Really good food, I had the seafood mixed grill and each piece of fish and seafood was cooked to perfection. The pork belly was succulent, with a crispy crackly skin. Service was great. There was one minor problem, there was no toilet paper in the ladies but it wouldn't put me off going again”

“The food here was great, such a wide variety. Plenty of options for vegan / vegetarians. My favourite dish was the cauliflower karaage. All of this was matched by the quality of drinks and cocktails. Loved the open kitchen and it added to the ambiance. Can't wait to go back.”

“Lovely time had on a quiet and wet Monday evening. We went for mains + desserts with coffee. The food once more was delicious (seabass and fishcakes, cheesecake and brownie) and the service super attentive and friendly. Amy waited on us and she was just delightful and caring, making sure our food was just right and we didn't lack anything at all. No rushing us to finish and leave as it happens in other restaurants. I truly recommend the Deer Park to those with a preference for fish dishes and quality food in a cosy and elegant restaurant.”

“Just had the smash burger, from a recommendation of a friend. They mentioned it was just like Five Guy's I thought to myself it can't be, Five Guy's being my go-to place for burger's and fries. Well, packaging, looks and taste all on a par with five Guy's. The fries could have been better, but I went for the burger anyway and no complaints at all. Polite staff and from the looks of it a lovely clean family restaurant. Will definitely come back here and try the rest of the menu.”

“Great place, we actually wanted to try somewhere else (just visiting York for one night and day) but there were queues at other cafes. I had Bill's Big Breakfast (or something like that). It was very good. 2 eggs, nice toast, streaky bacon, 1 sausage (would have preferred 2 but there you go), mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, potatoes, black pudding. Staff were really good, friendly and quick turnaround, it was maybe half full. We went at 11am, just too early for the brunch menu but we were happy with what we ordered. I had an early grey and a glass of orange juice, both really nice. Would deffo go back to a Bill's to check out more of the menu. Price wise, we got 2 of the larger options to eat and 2 drinks each so was 40 quid which actually we were happy to pay in the centre of York for the quality and speed of the service.”
