Named after Clear Creek which runs through the park and creates Lake Shelby, the park was established in 1974. The park was generously donated by Dr. A.L. Birch, a local veterinarian, who's family farm once stood on the land. The park system has since grown to over 900 acres with 12 parks spread throughout the county. The Clear Creek Family Activity Center is a 40,000 square foot facility that offers indoor and outdoor pools, basketball courts, a weight room, fitness classes, after school programs, an indoor walking track, and more. The park also features a golf course, Lake Shelby for fishing and boating, athletic programs for kids, and various outdoor courts for tennis, basketball, and pickleball. The park has multiple playgrounds, nature trails, and rental facilities available for events.
