Owner Russell Knoeppel, with over 20 years of experience in the American Taekwondo Association, opened Sioux Legacy Martial Arts in 2023 to bring together a community of martial artists in Sioux Center. His passion for improving individual lives through martial arts is evident in the positive impact he has on his students.
Our classes are not just for general health and wellness - they also focus on developing independence and teamwork skills through sparring with peers. Whether you are a beginner or experienced martial artist, Sioux Legacy Martial Arts offers a supportive and challenging environment for personal growth.
For children, Taekwondo is an excellent activity to combat distractions from social media and school pressures. Our youngest students are our top priority, as we believe it is never too early to develop a passion for martial arts. "My son is 4 years old and started in the ‘Tiny Tigers’ class. I was concerned about his maturity and energy level in going into the class, but Mr. K does fantastic and is patient with children. The process of signing up and getting started was very simple and explained to me well. We signed up with the 30 day trial, but will become members and continue beyond our trial due to my son’s excitement over the class!"
