Witmer House
Witmer House, located at 2900 Grand Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa, is a historic institution with a rich history. Originally built in 1905 by William Wirt Witmer, a prominent figure in Des Moines, the house has served various purposes over the years. From being a family home to the governor's mansion and offices of the Iowa High School Girl's Athletic Association, Witmer House has seen many changes. Designed by renowned Des Moines architects Liebbe, Nourse, and Rasmussen, the house is a fine example of the Georgian Revival style that was popular in the early 20th century. With its elegant architecture and historical significance, Witmer House is a landmark in the Owl's Head historic district.
