With over 1,300 volunteer hours spent in the gallery each year, it is truly a community-driven space.
Hubbell Historical Center
The Hubbell Historical Center, located at 500 Southwest 7th Street in Des Moines, Iowa, is a museum and library dedicated to all things related to the Hubbell family. The institution is a membership organization that aims to share family stories, increase coverage of family genealogy, curate family objects, and provide a research library for historical papers related to the family. The Hubbell Society Museum and Library was formed in August 2017 through the union of the Hubbell Family Historical Society and the Hubbell Center. The history of the Hubbell Family Historical Society dates back to 1981, with a focus on descendants of Richard Hubball of Worcestershire, England and the New Haven Colony, Connecticut. The institution has since evolved to welcome anyone with an interest in the Hubbell family. The Hubbell Center was established in 1992 to house the papers of the F.M. Hubbell family and a research collection that includes the works of Harold B. Hubbell and other contributors. The museum collection features artifacts, paintings, clothing, and memorabilia of the family over the centuries.
