On the Square Sports Academy
On The Square Sports Academy is a unique institution located at 105 North Court Street in Crown Point, Indiana. Housed in a building with a rich history, including being the former home of the Crown Point Community Center and used by Crown Point High School for athletic events, gymnastics, and Theatre in the mid-1900s. The site also holds significance as the former home of Solon Robinson, the original founder of Crown Point, marked by a monument at the front of the building. Renovations began in 2005 to restore the old Crown Point Gymnasium to its original glory, thanks to the efforts of many individuals. Previous owners Dennis and Lisa Morrow created a unique space for the community, which is now continued by current owners Nick and Alyssa Bauhan. The mission of the institution is to provide a safe and joyful place for individuals of all ages to come together and enjoy various events.
Edna Martin Christian Center
The Edna Martin Christian Center is a community institution located at 2605 East 25th Street in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. This center focuses on providing food assistance to those in need. In addition to their regular services, they will be hosting a COVID-19 vaccination event on Saturday, April 10th from 9am-5pm at KIPP Legacy High School, offering free Johnson & Johnson vaccines. Limited doses are available, so registration is required to reserve a vaccine and help protect the community from COVID-19. The center also recently held a successful fundraising event, their 5th Annual MONOPOLY Tournament, which attracted players from 10 states. The Edna Martin Christian Center is grateful for support from the Central Indiana COVID-19 Community Economic Relief Fund and is actively working on revitalizing the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood.
