HMI's Executive Director welcomed the Beck's to the house as they began their rehabilitation project. Shadyside Memorial Park Chinese Gardens
Shadyside Memorial Park Chinese Gardens, located at 1112 Broadway Street in Anderson, Indiana, is a historic park and tourist attraction. Originally opened in 1897 as a private park for employees of the Union Traction Company, the park was dedicated to all Madison County war veterans in 1923 when the City of Anderson purchased it and opened it to the public. The park features the Terraced Gardens, originally constructed as Japanese Gardens by nurseryman Milton H. Gaar in 1928, as well as the Bear Caves built by the Works Progress Administration in 1933. In the late 1990s, renovations were made to the park, including the creation of a botanical walk, amphitheater, and Veterans Commons.
