Downtown Angola Coalition
The Downtown Angola Coalition, located at 210 North Public Square in Angola, Indiana, is a dedicated group of individuals who have been supporting community development since 2017. Recently awarded $50,000 from T-Mobile, the coalition is expanding Imagine Alley in partnership with the City of Angola, Easterseals RISE, and Relic Emporium to create a vibrant mural promoting kindness and inclusivity. Imagine Alley, located in the Southwest corner of the mound, connects Gail Street to downtown Angola. Obtaining its 501(c)3 status in 2018, DAC has initiated several annual programs and events that promote community pride and togetherness. Collaborative efforts have led to various physical projects, and in January of 2024, Angola Main Street was awarded National Accreditation.
Pokagon State Park
Pokagon State Park is a popular tourist attraction located near Angola, Indiana, just off I-69. Originally named Lake James State Park, it was renamed to honor the Native American heritage of the region. The park features the Potawatomi Inn, named after Leopold and Simon Pokagon, prominent leaders of the Potawatomi tribe. The park showcases the work of the Civilian Conservation Corps, with beautiful stone and log structures built by members in the 1930s.
