Mills played a crucial role in establishing Wabash as an independent college and is known as the father of the public school system in Indiana. Built in 1836, the house served as Mills' residence for 43 years before being deeded to the College in 1926. After undergoing renovation in 1993, the Caleb Mills House now functions as a small guest house and entertainment venue for campus visitors. The first floor features a cozy living room with Victorian furniture, a grand piano, and a marble fireplace, as well as a dining room that seats 12 people comfortably.
