After completing master plan improvements in 2009, the site was renamed with input from the community. This complex is home to dense woodlands, valuable wetlands, and various native species, making it a popular destination for Park District visitors. Thanks to funding from a $400,000 Illinois Department of Natural Resources Open Space Lands and Acquisition Development (OSLAD) grant, Diamond Lake Sports Complex offers a wide range of recreational activities. The complex operates on different hours depending on the season, with winter hours starting the Monday after Daylight Savings ends and spring hours starting the Monday after Daylight Savings begins.

Spanning 153 acres, this park offers a variety of amenities and activities for people of all ages to enjoy. Named after former Park District Commissioner Keith W. Mione, who had a passion for sports and community involvement, the park is home to the Mundelein Community Center and NovaCare Fitness Center. The Mundelein Community Center houses the Park District staff offices, while NovaCare Fitness Center is a community-focused health club with a full-court gym, indoor pool/track, and more.
