β OpenThe Wauconda Township Historical Society, located at 711 North Main Street in Wauconda, Illinois, is a museum dedicated to preserving the history and genealogy of Wauconda Township in Lake County. The society offers programs and events funded by dues and donations, and maintains the Andrew C. Cook House in partnership with Wauconda Township. Wauconda Township, encompassing communities such as Wauconda, Volo, and Lake Barrington, has a rich history dating back to the 1840s. The Andrew C. Cook House, built in 1850 by Andrew and Mary Cook, has been restored and designated as an historic site by the Illinois State Historical Society. The house now serves as a museum showcasing the lifestyle of the original Cook family and houses a collection of over 2,000 historical artifacts and documents.
