Pediatric Associates of Barrington

"The first time we came here (a few years ago) the nurse announced my son’s private medical information to the waiting room. The nurse had also stated they prefer normal kids, not autistic kids. The manager convinced me to stay with this practice and not file a complaint. They called me today to come in early with my son, (our appointment was at 5:20 pm so I guess it made sense if they wanted to leave early or something). When I called back, Sophia said she "didn't know what I was talking about," berated me and hung up on me over me inquiring about their message instead of being a professional. She should be embarrassed of herself. It’s unfortunate when people take their personal issues on patients. She is easily one of the most unprofessional people that I have ever spoken to. She shouldn’t be allowed to be on the phone with patients. Update: The doctor called me to apologize for Sophia's poor behavior and said that they had wanted us to come in earlier. I imagine they have to apologize for this person often. I would say definitely do not go here because you will eventually have to deal with that and lack of communication. Unfortunately, Sophia has only made me reconsider filing a disability discrimination complaint."

"Many reasons I would defer you from this practice: Office staff is horrible They require a CC on file I gave them one but asked to see a bill prior to being charged so I could verify the charges and insurance was being billed. They told me I have to get a bill through the insurance company (EOB) but they want to charge me right away My 5 yr old ended up in the hospital once released we had to do a follow up visit - front office asked me to pay the hospital bill in full (we never got it yet) which I refused as it was being sent through insurance - they refused to see my son until I got on the phone with their office manager who “made a 1 time exception” We just got out of the hospital!! I wasn’t paying thousands of dollars! Called for a sick visit was told since my daughter hadn’t been there in a while (healthy kid) they didn’t have time - they needed a 45 min appointment verses 30 mins as she would be a “new patient” She was there for a physical a year earlier You wait longer in the waiting room or exam room than the time you have with the doctor. My 3 yr old needed an eye referral I called and asked for one - they wouldn’t give me one until I came in - another reason to grab a copay These are a few of the many reasons I’m leaving the practice after 9 years The place is not the same"

"Dr. Stefani was great with my daughter. She was very thorough and encouraged her to know about her own medical history. I will be making an appointment with her for my other daughter. All of the staff we encountered were very nice."

"All the doctors and nursing staff are wonderful at Pediatric Associates. The front desk is pleasant as well. It’s easy to get an appointment at this practice. My kids have seen Dr. Stefani since they were born. She is kind, caring and compassionate. She always puts my mind at ease and my kids absolutely adore her. Wonderful pediatrician."

"We are super pleased with the office staff, nurses and Dr. Stack. Our daughter is very easily upset by medical procedures, and the nurse was excellent at doing her best to calm our child while getting her shots done quickly. Dr. Stack is very friendly, understanding and easy to work with."
