Dam West Recreation Campground is a serene retreat located at 15334 Lake Road in Carlyle, Illinois, United States. Carlyle Lake, created in 1967, covers 26,000 acres and is known as one of the top ten inland sailing lakes in the nation. The area is also home to a diverse array of wildlife, making it a popular spot for birdwatching and nature enthusiasts. The Carlyle Lake Visitor Center, located within the Dam West Recreation Area, offers information and nature exhibits, including a 215-gallon aquarium with native fish.

"The beach is nice. There is a lot of space on the sand. They have a station of life vests to use if you need one, as there is no lifeguard. The picnic tables were clean. There is a credit card machine to buy the day pass for $5."

"Very nice!! Love the bike path. Beautiful campground with helpful, friendly volunteers. We had a nice, level site with full hookups. Laundry facilities at the campground were convenient and inexpensive. We also enjoyed the visitor center and bike path. Overall a great stay!"
