The Grove
β ClosedLocated at 1421 Milwaukee Avenue in Glenview, Illinois, The Grove is a 150-acre park and tourist attraction maintained by the Glenview Park District. This ecologically diverse land has a rich history, once owned by the Kennicott family who settled there in 1836. The property includes the Kennicott House, a Blacksmith Shop, a Program Barn, a Log Cabin, a Native American Village, and a Schoolhouse, all offering a glimpse into the area's past. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976, The Grove is a popular outdoor history and nature museum where visitors can explore oak-hickory savannas, wetland pools, and observe wildlife such as turtles. The Interpretive Center houses live animals and educational exhibits, while the Blacksmith Shop showcases period tools and techniques.
