Patricia Shephard Center
The Patricia Shepard Center, located at 421 North Springinsguth Road in Schaumburg, Illinois, is a school that offers a preschool program accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Originally opened in 1992 as the Community Recreation Center Annex, the center was later renamed in 1994 in honor of the Park District's early childhood supervisor, Patricia Shepard. The center also houses the Ken Alley Safety Park, which offers safety awareness classes taught by various organizations including the Schaumburg Fire Department and Police Department. Due to a renovation project, the Water Works entrance and concessions will be closed starting Aug. 1, with all other patrons needing to use the north entrance. Tours of the safety park are available from mid-April to mid-October, with programs offered for ages 3 to 7 on topics such as pedestrian, bicycle, playground, and fire safety.
