NIU Supermileage HQ, located in DeKalb, Illinois, is a university institution dedicated to designing, manufacturing, and testing ultra-efficient vehicles. Established in 2008, the Northern Illinois University Supermileage Team consistently produces top-performing vehicles in various competitions. In 2018, their Gasoline Prototype Vehicle achieved an impressive 1888 mpg and earned global recognition. The team's success continued in 2019 with a 1st place win at the Shell Eco-Marathon. Despite challenges in 2020 due to COVID-19, the team persevered and continued to develop innovative vehicle prototypes. Operated by undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds, NIU Supermileage meets regularly to prepare for competitions and promote energy efficiency in the community. With a strong presence in the Northern Illinois area, the team showcases their work to industry professionals, alumni, and prospective students.
