The 1820 Colonel Benjamin Stephenson House is a historic museum and tourist attraction located at 409 South Buchanan Street in Edwardsville, Illinois, United States. Built in 1820, this important landmark connects the history of Edwardsville to the early days of the State of Illinois. Due to being short-staffed, advanced reservations are required to ensure a docent will be available during your visit. The institution is currently raising funds to replace their old rotted garden fence and plant beds. Additionally, the Pollinator Pathway group is working to establish pollinator-friendly habitats for bees, butterflies, and other wildlife. Edwardsville is the first city in Illinois to be designated as part of this initiative. Visitors are encouraged to stop by and explore the special events held at the museum. The operating hours are Sunday from 12 pm to 3 pm from March 1 to December 15, and Thursday to Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm. Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays are closed.
