Naperville Pediatrics: Drs. Rubin and Lawande

"We moved away a couple years ago but still come back annually a couple times. This practice has done a lot for the community, staying open through the pandemic, and there is no substitute for the wealth of experience from Dr. Rubin and Dr. Lawande. I’m so puzzled by some of the negative reviews on billing. It might be an unfamiliarity with our insurance system, but it’s common to potentially have a copay in office and then the real bill later after they submit it to the insurance, which may not cover the full amount. All of that is captured in the statements from the insurance company separately. This office is definitely not a scam, and I think the frustration is misdirected. For those that don’t want a surprise bill later, you could instead pay for the full amount upfront and then submit for reimbursement through your insurance yourself. Maybe then you’ll appreciate the work that the office billing staff takes on to lessen the burden on the patients. Trust me, talking to insurers is no fun."

"IF i could give no stars, i surely would. This place is a legit SCAM!! They asked me for my insurance details and while making an appointment i confirmed to them as to what i would be charged. They came back to me with a bill of 5x the charge and they kept saying its not a practice to provide with the information on estimate (which they clearly did). Now that i go through the google reviews i see A LOT of other people have had the billing issues with them before. No wonder! FIND A BETTER PLACE.. this facility is a TOTAL RIP-OFF!!"

"After transferring here several years ago, I could not have picked a better pediatrics office. This office, from the doctors, staff and management out performs my previous pediatrician’s office. The doctors are top notch, answering all my questions in depth & knows me by name, giving me that Family Practice feel, not just another number. The office manager I could not express how professional & helpful she is when dealing with my companies insurance. She went above & beyond when my company changed insurance providers. She took a lot of time to explain how the new insurance works, from the deductible to how/when payments are made. She made understand everything & made me feel at ease, very easy to talk to & extremely polite, . It appears that there is nothing she wouldn’t do to help out. That goes the same for the nurses/staff, always smiling & helping out. Very polite & easy to deal with. Just want say thanks again to everyone at the office, more pediatricians could learn a lot from this office!"

"We have been going to this clinic for more than 2 years now. 3 stars are only for the doctors as they are great and take care of patients well, always available 24 hour but the billing department is worst. After paying and asking if there is co payment for each visit, they always say you will get a bill. Each time after paying the payment we always get slammed by bigger bills 2 months later for all previous visits. Even after calling them they never give a proper answer and is very hard to get in contact with them. We are so frustrated and the manager keeps telling me what my insurance is. We know what plans we have but getting a big bill suddenly without any notice."

"We have been visiting here for 2.5 years for our now 2-yr old son, and Drs. Rubin and Lawande are thorough and methodical in their diagnosis and approach. However, this is hugely let-down by their accounting staff. We consistently get bills literally "MONTHS" after the service date, and recently we have received a $322 bill for regular office visits. When we called to speak about this to the accounting manager, she was very rude and blamed our insurance plan for these costs. We have been with 3 different insurances plans (because of employer changes) during our time there, and the accounting staff are cold and rude in their behavior regardless and we get bills way past the service date. They are still "old school", and have no provision to accept payments at the location. Highly disappointed with the accounting staff and advise everyone to save their time and money and seek pediatrics care elsewhere!"
