The Best Maui nature walks in Hilo, Hawaii

Wailuku River State Park, located at 2-198 Rainbow Drive in Hilo, Hawaii, is a popular tourist attraction and park with viewpoints of geologic and scenic interest along the Wailuku River. The park features two separate areas: Boiling Pots, a series of large pools connected by underground flow or cascades, and Rainbow Falls, an 80-foot waterfall known for the rainbow formed by its mist in the mornings. Legends say that the cave beneath the waterfall was the home of Hina, mother of the demigod Maui. Visitors are advised to monitor local surf and weather reports before visiting the park. Access to both park sections is available via Waiānuenue Avenue in downtown Hilo.
