Memorial Wall
The Memorial Wall in Dahlonega, Georgia, United States, is a school institution that was established in 1982 by the North Georgia College Alumni Council to honor former students who lost their lives serving their country during times of war. Designed by architect Steve Gallant, the memorial includes a marker with the names of students who died while enrolled. The site was prepared by North Georgia College personnel, and the stones were cut and erected by Elberton Granite and Finishing Works. The University of North Georgia Plant Operations department now maintains the Memorial Wall. The dedication took place in 1983 by Dr. John H. Owen and General William J. Livsey. In 1985, a bronze eagle sculpture titled "Freedom's Vigil" was added to the site, dedicated by Chad Colley. The monument serves as a tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom, as well as to enrolled students whose lives were cut short. The names of these individuals are listed on the wall, and wreaths and flowers are placed by contributors to the UNG Eagle Fund. The institution also follows web accessibility standards for those who require content in another format. Please note that the use of military-themed imagery does not constitute endorsement by the U.S. Department of Defense.
