Frontier Village Historic Site
Frontier Village Historic Site is situated on a breathtaking bluff overlooking the Chattahoochee River in Fort Gaines, Georgia. This historic location has served as a frontier fort in 1816, an Indian fort in 1836, and a Confederate fort in 1863. Visitors can explore the historic cemetery, view a Civil War cannon, and admire the impressive wood carved statue of a Creek Indian Chief. The site is included in the Fort Gaines Self-Guided Walking Tour, offering a glimpse into the rich history of the area.
Bedingfield Inn
The Bedingfield Inn, located at 1836 Broad Street in Lumpkin, Georgia, is a historic museum housed in an authentic stagecoach inn dating back to around 1836. This well-preserved relic from Lumpkin's frontier days has been carefully restored and furnished with period antiques, offering visitors a glimpse into the past. The Inn is open daily except for major holidays, with admission prices of $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for children, which includes a guided tour.
