Union County Recreation Complex
The Union County Recreation Complex, located at 601 Meeks Park Road in Blairsville, Georgia, offers residents and visitors a variety of athletic and fitness programs in a clean, green, and safe environment. With hundreds of acres of park land throughout the county, the complex provides activities such as football, cheerleading, baseball, Zumba, aerobics, dance lessons, water aerobics, and swimming lessons for both children and adults. The Special Operations Director, Kristy Peney, oversees the department and ensures that the facilities are accessible and welcoming to all. The mission of the complex is to enrich the lives of Union County citizens by providing diverse recreational activities for people of all ages to play, learn, and develop healthy lifestyles while also preserving the natural environment. The vision is to offer affordable recreational, physical, and cultural opportunities for all residents, with a focus on families, youth development, and building healthy communities. The Union County Recreation Department strives to provide excellent value and quality programs in well-maintained facilities that meet the public's needs and interests. A special meeting of the Union County Commission will be held on April 3, 2024, to discuss important matters related to the installation of a temporary crossing and a permanent bridge on Fisher Field Road, as well as to adopt a resolution regarding the boundary between Union and Lumpkin counties.
