"In September of 2023, I purchased a new home in Monticello, FL. We looked around and Gumbati Handyman, who could do everything we needed, with the use of their subcontractors, i.e. Plumbing, Floor Installation, Electrical and Driveway Installation. This project was over $20,000.00 worth of work. I must admit, they did a pretty good job. Whereas the minute they finished, I ensured a check was in their hand, paying them in full. Since, we thought we forged a good relationship with this company. We did even try to shop them out, for all the upcoming work we wanted done. In October we wanted gutters to be installed on our Pole Barn. Therefore, we asked them for a quote to Install approx. 82’ of brown gutters with downspouts on the upper and lower side of the pole barn, which came out to $1,323.43. We said yes, and they completed the job. In December we needed gutters installed on the main house and there is a current issue with improper drainage on the previously installed gutters. Therefore, we reached out to them for another quote. This time the job was smaller, 40ft, which is less than ½ of the other job. Therefore, we thought that the price would be at most ½. Instead, it was 11% higher than 50%, at $800.00. This was confusing because not only was it ½ of materials needed, but it was also less than ½ in difficulty, due to the height of the installation. This time I was communicating with Mike Gephart (Estimator), not Steve (the owner) and he said, “The price for the gutters is the price that I got from my gutter installer. I can offer a 2.5% discount as an existing client but that would be the best I could do. The total price would come to $780.00. Please let me know if you would like to proceed with the project.” So essentially what he is stating is that they are not up-charging anything for their subcontractor, which I don’t believe, but Gumbati will lose money by offering a discount, “essentially paying for the job. Additionally, they never showed up to repair the previous gutters. Now, I’m a successful business owner. I built a strong company on the basis of honesty and integrity. I knew going into this that Gumbati Handyman utilizes subcontractors and marks projects up for profit, which is completely fine and understandable. However, lying and saying they’re not and then offering a 2.5% discount just doesn’t make sense. At least tell the truth… It’s upsetting because we thought that we found an honest company to utilize for all future projects, but I guess not…"

"I had such high hopes after hearing so many good things. Delusionally overpriced—the other quotes I got for the same job were less than half of what Gumbatis quoted. Gumbatis was unwilling to even try to save historic hardwood floor, and instead wanted to just rip it up and put in new laminate."
