Cone Park Branch, part of the Alachua County Library District, is a unique institution located in East Gainesville, Florida. Situated within Fred Cone Park, this branch is the only library in the district located in a public park. Opened in November 2011, Cone Park Branch started as a 1300 square foot temporary unit before expanding to a 10,000 square foot permanent structure in December 2013. The branch offers a variety of amenities including a community meeting room, study room, training room for local businesses, resource center, Quiet Reading Room, dedicated spaces for children and teens, and plenty of public restrooms. The children's area, designed to evoke an outdoor swamp scene of old Florida, is a highlight of the branch. With a collection of 25,000 items, 18 computers, early learning touch screen computers, and public wi-fi access, Cone Park Branch serves the community with programs promoting literacy, STEAM education, job readiness, and more.

Conveniently located at 3095 Blount Street, our library is a tribute to two pioneering figures in African American literature: Jupiter Hammon, the first published African American author, and Paul Laurence Dunbar, the first widely acclaimed African American poet in the United States. Our library is a vibrant hub of learning and culture, offering a wide range of resources and programs for all ages. We take pride in our dedicated collection of African American Literature, named in honor of Mary Rice, a cherished library advocate and longtime employee.
