The Swamp Restaurant
β ClosedThe Swamp Restaurant, located at 1104 Southwest 2nd Avenue in Gainesville, Florida, has returned in all its original glory in a new, nearby location. This iconic landmark has been a staple in the Gainesville community for over twenty-five years, serving as a popular restaurant, bar, and event venue for University of Florida students, alumni, and locals alike. The original building, with its charming white trim, picket fence, and sprawling front lawn, was a beloved landmark in Gainesville. After facing closure and demolition in 2019, the Gator Nation rallied together to save The Swamp. Despite the original building being razed in July 2020, the institution has reopened in a new location just minutes away, capturing the likeness and historic charm of the original landmark.
