"Their "New Patient Policies" will continue to deter potential clients. If the new patient knows what modalities work and what will not, that is the final answer and should be celebrated. Therapy is not a one size fits all but you will never convince their appointment scheduler of that. She will attempt to gaslight you into thinking their evaluation will know whats best. Mindsets like this do nothing but coddle egos and deflect the patients inner voice."

"Very disappointed with this practice. Paul came highly recommended as a therapist, and after reading his Psychology Today profile where he welcomes virtual clients, I felt confident about reaching out and scheduling an intro call. After playing phone tag with Anne a few times, I was finally glad to connect with her- until I wasn’t. I kindly expressed to her my partner’s needs, and availability for sessions (they asked for biweekly sessions, at a specific and regular time of week to be worked into if/once established based on therapist’s availability) and an intro call. She actually questioned the purpose for the intro call (are you kidding me? I had to explain it to her) and was trying to coerce me into booking a full appointment, right then and there, without connecting me with the therapist to even determine if they were going to be a good match. This woman quite shrewdly told me that it would be up to the therapist to determine the client’s needs, which would make sense AFTER they take into consideration the client’s availability. THEN, she coldly asked if we were local (we are, but my partner works a tight schedule so virtual is a necessity) and let me know that they refuse virtual appointments to just anyone- they are reserved for established clients only, and to be used seldomly. As was “practice policy”. Never in my life have I ever been so turned off by a MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS business, I wouldn’t recommend anyone to come here after the lack of kindness and extreme rigidity I experienced in just trying to procure information. Also, have your clinicians update their profiles on Psychology Today to reflect “practice policy”- it’s extremely misleading, and will save your under qualified front desk lady from having to rudely act as gatekeeper."
