"I'm giving these guys three stars because I had two very good technicians and I also had a reaction in the MRI and their intervention was Steller But I can't give them more than three stars because of in hospital billing and they took advantage of me as a patient unfamiliar with what they call "in hospital billing" when I thought it would be a simple copay. .I'm a veteran who usually gets his care from the VA but I went to um for a second opinion on SCI. I sought out Dr Barth green who is one of the best in the country and headed up the Miami project when it started a few decades ago. He remains on staff as a consultant but is no longer doing surgery My first visit was up in Boca and was a pre-dr green intake procedure..it was a $25 copay. That was it Next step was an MRI and and x-ray at Deerfield. Once again i paid my $25 copay. But then I get a $900 bill. UM billed me as if I were in the hospital - they call it in-hospital services. $17k was the cost just for that MRI and x-ray. UM bills Florida Blue a negotiated amount according to their contract which my Florida Blue rep said was $4k ( and not $17k) for that MRI and x-ray. I'm then responsible for 20% of that which is supposed to be $800 if you do the math . But for some reason they're billing me $900 which I need to investigate. But 17k would be cost if they were out of network That's downright criminal ! UM is now automatically giving me estimates for upcoming appointments and I just verify that with my insurance so I always know what it's going to cost me. But that first whopping charge I did not receive an estimate so I had no idea I was going to be responsible for $900! So I will likely file a complaint on this with state health services or another entity for failing to disclose Btw if you have no insurance it would cost you $250 for an MRI at a close by radiology center near me and I believe $50 for a conventional x-ray. it's sad to see what is probably a real good medical institution ruined by organizational greed. Suddenly I'm compassionate with insurance companies! Point is you better BEWARE of "in hospital billing for routine outpatient services or studies" It is downright criminal for those kinds of numbers just because your office visit is actually in the hospital. I just don't know how they get away with it. So make sure you get an estimate before you visit the MD. I'm going to have to start treating medical facilities like Banks (I bank with five institutions) where I will find competing medical organizations to give me a better price than another medical org for a study or a visit."

"I was amazing that my dr move to this place but after July august and September I am receiving bill for Dr for location and for labs before I paid my share and that was everything. I am so frustrated I can not work that way . My health is very important and after this experience I will request to be change the dr or not going anymore to the specialist. Be carful with the bill I can not recommend a place looking for my health and get sick for the way they bill and the extraordinary expense"

"Billing is the worst The hospital administration needs to make sure the patient has been seen by the Dr before sending bills to collections. This is not fair and or good practice Your bill will be paid, Your patient is no longer going to be your patient. Its a shame. You have great Dr's and staff. Looks like you need new leadership!"
