Situated on eight acres between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, the center has valuable access to the ocean and seawater for research purposes. Established in 1997 as the nation's first ocean engineering program, FAU Dania Beach is a state-funded Type II research center that is part of FAU's Department of Ocean and Mechanical Engineering. The center is home to a team of world-class faculty members, engineers, technicians, and students who are engaged in federally and industry-sponsored ocean engineering research and technology development.
