Douglas M. Cook park
β ClosedDouglas M. Cook Park is a newly dedicated public park located in Lakeland, Florida, United States. The park was officially opened on August 25, 2018, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Lakeland Mayor Bill Mutz. The park was donated by Lake Gibson Village in honor of Douglas M. Cook, the founder of the village. Cook's family, including his mother, widow, son, and siblings, were present at the ceremony, along with Pro Football Hall of Famer Ray Lewis. The park is now home to the Lakeland Police Athletic League's football, baseball, and cheerleading teams, with the mission of keeping kids off the streets and guiding them towards becoming productive citizens. The park features sports fields and a concession stand, attracting dozens of children and spectators.
