"My husband has been treated at the Fixel Institute for the last 8 years. His neurologist is Dr Addie Patterson DO. She is excellent at working with patients and family to provide the patient with optimal care.The team of doctors including physical therapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists and psychiatry have followed his care during these 8 years in order to provide input to Dr Patterson and provide recommendations to us for his best care. He is preparing for Deep Brain Stimulation this month and we are assured he is at the best facility at the UF Fixel Institute and with the best neurosurgeon for this surgery. (Mayo Clinic is equal distance from our home in FL.) He went through extensive testing to qualify and lengthy discussion with surgeon, Dr Justin Hilliard. We travel to Gainesville which is two hours from home and see the doctors and therapist about once every six months. After DBS our travel to Fixel will be more frequent for tuning the DBS for about 6 months. We are very pleased with my husband's care and communication with everyone on staff."
