Black Rock State Park
Black Rock State Park, located at 2065 Thomaston Road in Watertown, Connecticut, is a stunning 444-acre park offering excellent swimming, hiking, and scenic views. The park is steeped in Indian legend and history, with artifacts still being discovered from the Mohegan, Paugussett, and Tunxis tribes who first explored the land. The park features Black Rock Pond, wooded ledges, and commanding rock faces that offer panoramic views of the surrounding area. The park is open daily from Memorial Day to October 1, and weekends only from the second Saturday in April to Memorial Day. The Black Rock State Campground offers 78 campsites and rustic cabins within walking distance to the beach, fishing pond, and hiking trails. Anglers will enjoy the calm waters of Black Rock Pond, which is regularly restocked with trout.
