Hyland House
β OpenHyland House, located at 84 Boston Street in Guilford, Connecticut, is a historic house museum and tourist attraction dedicated to sharing the town's colonial history. Named after George Hyland, the original settler of the land in 1657, the two-story saltbox structure was built around 1713 by Hyland's son-in-law Isaac Parmelee. Recognized by the National Registry of Historic Places as a landmark in domestic architecture, the house has been open to the public as a nonprofit museum since 1918. Visitors can explore the homestead, learn about its inhabitants such as master clockmaker Ebeneezer Parmelee and enslaved woman Candace, and participate in tours, events, classes, and research programs. For more information on admission, events, membership, and volunteering opportunities, contact Hyland House at [email protected]. Visit us today to experience Guilford's colonial legacy and inspire ongoing stewardship of its history.
