The 14,000-square-foot stone castle sits atop a hill overlooking the Connecticut River, surrounded by 184-acres of picturesque woodlands. The park also features outdoor exhibits showcasing 19th-century art and historical treasures such as Gillette's houseboat wreckage. Friends Of Gillette Castle
Friends of Gillette Castle is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and celebrating the iconic Gillette Castle State Park in East Haddam, Connecticut. The institution offers visitors the opportunity to explore the castle's interior and visitor center, open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Memorial Day through Labor Day, and weekends through Columbus Day. Advance ticket purchase is highly recommended, as tickets are sold by the state. The grounds of the castle are open daily year-round from 8 a.m. until sunset. Due to the ongoing renovation of the East Haddam Swing Bridge, visitors are advised to check schedules and alternative routes. The Friends of Gillette Castle are committed to supporting the state parks and encourage visitors to learn more about how they can help. The organization is supported by various individuals and businesses, including John C. Sherwood, George Mattern, Senator Norman Needleman, Jacqueline Hubbard, Yankee Cider Company, Staehly Farm & Winery, and Cove Cemetery Association.
