"Smithland Pet & Garden in Old Saybrook is my go to place for all my cat's needs. My cat is 18 and can be quite finicky. I have no issues returning canned foods she likes one week and then chooses not to eat the next. The staff are all so friendly and Ashley especially is extremely helpful every time I visit the store and she is working. She goes above and beyond to assist me whenever I am in the store. I have also purchased bird seed and garden supplies and always find what I am looking for. Ashley is amazing and Smithland Pet and Garden Center is a wonderful place to shop."

"Wonderful place to shop for my kitties supplies. The aisles are always full and orderly. I had a few questions about new food a couple months ago and a sweet girl named Ashley helped me pick out exactly what I needed! She was so attentive and knowledgeable regarding my kitties health concerns and made my shopping fun! I now shop at Smithland once a week and she's always there to greet me by name with a smile. I wish all stores had employees like her! Highly recommend this store for anyone who wants great service and selection for their pets (or even garden)! THANK YOU!"

"I’ve been shopping here for about two years and the employees have always been very kind and helpful. I came in yesterday and 3 employees asked me if I needed help, and one woman (didn’t get her name) assisted me with getting dog food and helping me find other options and explained to me why it got so expensive and why there’s a shortage. Hopefully I wasn’t being rude but I was kind of in shock with how pricey they got. They even let us watch the chicks as they got ready for their new home. The cashier was also so kind to us while my brain was processing this new information. It’s the next day and I still feel bad because everyone was so nice and I was so awkward. I live in Waterford but I come here for my dog food because it’s such a great environment."

"Stopped by since we were going to Dunkin. We noticed a lot of plants. As a person who likes to buy healthy, bug free plants, this is the place. The plants all looked well taken care of. In the past, we made the mistake of buying bug infested plants from WalMart - you know the little creatures with thousands of legs we in the soil. There were so many, I ditched the plants."
