Stratton Brook State Park
Stratton Brook State Park, located at 149 Farms Village Road in Simsbury, Connecticut, is a popular tourist attraction offering a range of outdoor activities for visitors to enjoy. Originally known as Massacoe State Forest, the park features swimming, picnicking, fishing, cycling, and interpretive programs in a picturesque wooded setting that is ADA accessible. The park's land was initially acquired for forest fire control purposes along railroads, but now offers a scenic bike trail shaded by white pines, crossing over brooks and through a covered bridge. The Stratton Brook State Park Trail also connects to the Farmington River Trail and the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail. Designated as a state park in 1949, Stratton Brook became the first fully wheelchair-accessible state park in Connecticut in 1996. Visitors can enjoy the park for free with in-state registered vehicles, while out-of-state vehicles are charged a fee of $10 on weekdays and $15 on weekends and holidays. Season passes are also available for out-of-state vehicles at a cost of $112.
