Located in Bloomfield, Connecticut, the River Street Autism Program - Birken Campus is a specialized school catering to students with autism spectrum disorder from preschool through grade 8. Our comprehensive program offers year-round programming with small classroom sizes and a high staff-to-student ratio. We focus on enhancing our learners' quality of life through individualized programming in academics, functional living skills, communication, and social and leisure skills. Our multi-disciplinary clinical staff, including Board Certified Behavior Analysts, Speech and Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists, work collaboratively with Special Education Teachers to provide highly individualized programs for each student. Our students also benefit from Adaptive Physical Education, art group, music group, and other activities to promote social skills and independence. All staff are trained and supervised by professionals certified through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, utilizing evidence-based strategies to support students with autism. Additionally, our River Street Preschool/Early Learning Center offers high-quality integrated preschool services for children ages 3 to 5, in partnership with the River Street Autism Program.
