WCSU Westside Observatory
β OpenThe WCSU Westside Observatory, located at Lake Avenue Extension in Danbury, Connecticut, is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to teaching, research, and public outreach in the field of astronomy. The observatory features a planetarium with a Spitz A3p star projector, special effects projectors, and a video projection system for educational programs. Public nights for stargazing are held regularly during the spring and fall terms, weather permitting. The Instrumentation Laboratory at the observatory houses research-grade equipment for meteorological and radiometric studies, data logging, and telecommunications. Students also have access to a Temperature Calibration Facility for hands-on learning. The Weather Center within the university provides professional forecasts to local businesses and newspapers, while the Broadcast Room trains students in meteorology using broadcast equipment.
