β ClosedThe Free Gondola - Telluride Station is a unique institution located at West San Juan Avenue in Telluride, Colorado, United States. Operating from November 17, 2023, to April 7, 2024 during the winter season and from May 23, 2024, to October 20, 2024 during the summer season, this free gondola offers a 12-minute ride connecting the towns of Telluride and Mountain Village. Operating seven days a week from 6:30 a.m. to midnight, with extended hours until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays during the winter season, this gondola is the first and only free public transportation system of its kind in the United States. Passengers can enjoy spectacular views of the San Juan Mountains, Aspen-cloaked mesas, and sun-struck waterfalls during their ride, which provides access to hiking and biking trails in the summer and ski slopes in the winter. With an elevation change of 1,750 feet from Telluride to Station San Sophia and 960 feet from Station San Sophia to Mountain Village, riders will have a front row seat to view Mother Nature from 10,500 feet.
