"The service I received at this office was stellar. I needed to have my backcountry permit printed. No problem! I would be in town a few days and wanted hiking recommendations. No problem! (I even bought a book.) I needed to compare mountain passes that access a linear trail I'm heading for. No problem! The ranger even added directions to the Bristlecone Grove, nearby. I highly recommend this station for all outdoor questions, merchandise and services along the Eastern Sierra."

"I received good customer service and was happy with the merchandise/gifts selection. The only thing was the ranger had a lot of trouble finding the items I was purchasing on their tablet system. Took several minutes while others waited. The rangers might need more training on this system, or the system needs to be updated to be user friendlier. But the rangers were polite throughout the entire process."

"Some of my best memories over the years started here at this station. Unfortunately, the office seem to have responded to COVID rather sluggishly, and completely closed except for posting a few useless phone numbers that don’t even lead to a live person. I understand the need for safety, but these rangers seem plain rude and unhelpful, especially regarding the new online permit system (which doesn’t make sense to me). I made the reservation a few months ago and was simply following the instructions to pick it up before 10 am. When I finally found a live person to help me make sense of my reservation, he just told me I “must not be good at reading” and to go “call the phone number a few hundred times until someone picks up”. Thanks a lot."

"During these hard times, action is imperative. Social distancing is a necessity. I am leaving this review about a resource cut off that is occurring at the White Mountain Ranger Station Visitor Center, 798 N Main St, Bishop, CA 93514, I have noticed multiple homeless attempt to fill water storage as well as those in RVs quarantined out on dispersed BLM land. I’m sure it is understandable how this source of water was allowing citizens to avoid unnecessary visits to the supermarket(full of potential virus spread) and saving plastic bottles that are no longer available in most stores here in bishop. The station has wrapped the spigot with plastic and duct tap to ward off its use. Please do what is necessary to fix this issue"
