Welcome to California True Colors Garden and Learning Center, a vibrant community oasis dedicated to sustainable gardening practices and environmental education. Nestled at 1385 East Janss Road in Thousand Oaks, California, our park serves as an inspiring demonstration garden showcasing the beauty and practicality of water-wise landscaping.
Since our inception, we've transformed our grounds into a living classroom, featuring a series of themed gardens that highlight drought-tolerant plants from various Mediterranean climates. Each garden is meticulously curated with UC Davis Arboretum All-Star plants, known for their resilience and minimal water requirements, making them ideal for California’s unique climate.
Our journey began in 2011 with the installation of the Anchor Garden, followed by the California Garden in 2012, and has expanded to include the Mediterranean, Australian, Chilean, and South African Gardens. Each space is thoughtfully designed to provide shade, seating, and pathways, creating a serene environment for visitors to explore and learn.
At the heart of our mission is education. We offer a range of engaging garden talks, tours, and hands-on workshops led by knowledgeable Master Gardeners. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting, our programs are designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge to create your own sustainable garden at home. Our popular Water Wise talks have reached thousands, offering valuable insights into efficient irrigation and plant selection.
Join us every Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for volunteer workdays, where you can get your hands dirty alongside fellow gardening enthusiasts. Whether you're weeding, planting, or simply enjoying the company of friends, there's always something to learn and celebrate at California True Colors Garden and Learning Center.

"April 22, 2024 There are so many beautiful spring flowers in the Garden. The Garden is located next to / around the TO Library. The Garden itself is not too big but organized. (From the Garden you can visit the Senior Center and the Teen Center)."
"This garden is located in between the parking lot of the Thousand Oaks library and the Goebel center. We walk our dog in the morning at the conejo creek park and this small garden is located in its path. Water conserving garden and numerous archways. Brass statues and seating areas. Great cozy place to visit"
