The Serrano Adobe
β OpenThe Serrano Adobe, located at 25151 Serrano Road in Lake Forest, California, is a historic site within the Heritage Hill Historical Park. This 4.1-acre park features four fully restored and furnished buildings that showcase the early history of the Saddleback Valley and El Toro area. The Serrano Adobe, dating back to circa 1863, represents the Mexican Rancho era, while the El Toro Grammar School, St. George's Episcopal Mission, and Harvey Bennett Ranch House provide insight into the founding of El Toro and the citrus farming days of the early twentieth century. Visitors can enjoy free "walk-in" tours of the buildings, led by volunteer docents, on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 11 a.m. These tours offer a glimpse into the rich history of the area and the lives of its early inhabitants. Additionally, the park offers school tour programs for third and fourth grade classes, allowing students to experience a typical school day from the turn-of-the-century and learn about Native American history.
