"Disturbing. Dr. Broome threatened to not return my cats to me until I paid for the preliminary tests, not even the iodine treatment. That alone should give you an idea of the type of person that Dr. Broome is. He threatened to hold my cats hostage until i paid him. It’s as simple as that. Had I known this about him beforehand, I would have avoided this facility at all costs and found another, which i highly recommend you do the same. Here’s the full scenario, to further clarify: Dropped my cats off for radioactive iodine treatment. They did the preliminary tests. Dr. Broome, without my consent, spoke with an uninvolved third party who called inquiring about my cats. They got into an argument. Nurse called me to say to come pick up my cats, meanwhile I was unaware of the third-party and was just waiting for Dr. Broome to call me with the test results. I go to the facility, and Dr. Broome said i need to take my cats back (because of his argument about my cats with someone who shouldn’t be involved), he wasn’t going to do the iodine treatment, and then threatened to not give me my cats back until I paid for their preliminary tests. After an hour of going back and forth, I got them back on an agreement that he wouldn’t share their results, which I understand is how business works, but just shows his lack of morals. This experience has been very disturbing and I’d never ever want someone with his lack of morals to be treating my cats."

"After spending weeks stressing over my dog having to go under anesthesia/wondering what the scan would show, the day of the appointment exceeded my expectations. They took us quickly, Dr. Broome spent time speaking with us, pick up was easy and I had the results and a report within 3 hours of leaving. Extremely professional and responsive."

"I thought this place was well and fine until 5 months after my cat’s treatment when I realized her labs had been misinterpreted. Her thyroid hormone was dropping and her marker for kidney disease (creatinine) was rising. When this happens, they almost always need to be treated for hypOthyroid, or else they will die, just in a different way. Google “Dr. Mark Peterson hypOthyroid” - Dr. Peterson invented I-131 treatment in cats and does research on this exact phenomena. Research on this has been published for 4-5 years now. There’s no excuse to not be up to date on these studies as a specialist in the exact field. I took all this to her primary vet and my suspicions were correct. She met all 3 parameters for clinical hypOthyroid and had been left untreated for 4 months despite the numbers showing exactly this since JANUARY. Even my primary vet, Dr. Youn @ VCC said we should have tested TSH to confirm hypOthyroid in January and begun treatment then, as per Dr. Mark Peterson’s protocols. When Dr. Broome reported my cat’s results (after 2 follow up labs), he said they were within normal range. This was not true. They were subclinical and 3 weeks later, were back to clinically hypOthyroid. She’s finally on medication as prescribed by Dr. Youn, but had I not reviewed my cat’s labs myself this would have never been caught. She has all the symptoms of hypO - lethargy, weight gain, even hair loss on ears. I shouldn’t have to diagnose my own cat after paying a specialist $1000 for this treatment. Dr. Broome and his staff have completely ignored all my attempts at respectful communication since my cat’s proper diagnosis of hypOthyroid. I have called, emailed, left messages - all have been ignored. VERY unprofessional and disrespectful. I have told all local vets in OC and LA that I work with how Dr. Broome and his staff behaved."
