Nestled in the heart of Aptos, California, Esplanade Patio offers a vibrant and rejuvenating space for community members and visitors alike. Located at 105 Esplanade, our park serves as a testament to the resilience and creativity of the Aptos community.

Following the devastating end to Seacliff’s iconic pier after a torrential rainy season, the community came together to breathe new life into the Rio Del Mar Esplanade. At the heart of this revitalization is a stunning mural created by world-renowned local artist Taylor Reinhold, alongside talented teammates Casey Landaker and Scott Greathouse. This captivating artwork celebrates the interconnectedness of our woodland, riparian, and coastal ecosystems, emphasizing the importance of conservation and stewardship.

The mural project was spearheaded by the Aptos-based nonprofit, Nisene Rio Gateway (NRG), in collaboration with County Park Friends as fiscal sponsors. Together, they raised over $13,000 from generous donors to bring this vision to life. The mural now graces a Parklet area owned by County Parks, featuring picnic tables and plans for additional amenities like bike racks, landscaping, and a seasonal food truck.
