First Field Farm

"It so upsetting to leave a bad review for any business owner. However, as a business owner myself, I take pride in making everyone who passes through my door welcomed. Initially when I reached out to inquire about riding lessons for my daughter, I was please with the response and the conversation I had with Rose the instructor. We spoke about regular lessons and actually settled on Thursdays after school at 2pm. She was very friendly over the phone. Took my credit card information etc. It wasn't until we showed up that things changed. I'm not sure if they are use to working with people of color but it felt very unwelcoming and cold. I first received a phone while on my way there at 1:45 asking when we would arrive. I was confused because the lesson was scheduled to start at 2pm. Rose was already annoyed that we were late. But the fact is, we weren't. She stated that we should be there at 1:30 to prepare the horse. Which I explained over the phone that my daughter gets out of school at 1:30 so that wouldn't be possible. I wasn't sure what had changed between my call and that day. After the lesson was over, Rose said that she would figure out a regular time for lessons and call me. Again, I was confused because we already settled on Thursdays at 2pm. She never reached back out me until I sent and email saying that I had heard nothing and was concerned that she had my credit card on file. I have been around the block a few times and it seems to me that Rose was cool with me and my child before she saw that we were black. It is unfortunate that we have to deal with things like this in this day and age. I had to tell my daughter that we would need to find a place that caters to minorities. Although my money is green like everyone else's, I guess it doesn't matter. Take your business elsewhere. As my mother would say "go where valued.""

"This place has improper upkeep of both their stables and horses. In fact one of their horse that were being ridden had ulcers, completely irresponsible owners."

"First-rate, correct, and classic training for horse and rider. Excellent care for the horses. They offer services for people with their own horses and also have a lesson program that provides a variety of suitable lesson horses and ponies. Everyone--clients, trainers, and staff--is supportive and helpful. It really is a wonderful atmosphere. For those who want to show, they attend a variety of horse shows, usually about two a month. They helped me to purchase my current horse and the entire process was professional, ethical, and pleasant. The training program is located within a larger facility, B&B Stables. The training program has a ring, lunging pen, and turnout for the exclusive use of its clients and horses. There are several other rings and turnouts on site. Stalls are cleaned daily and copious quantities of shavings are provided."

"I have taken riding lessons consistently at several other barns for the past ten years and I was brought to First Field Farm by a friend who trained there. Their knowledgeable riding instructors helped fill the gaps in my riding education and gave me a solid base to start jumping more confidently than ever before. I would highly reccomend their program to anyone looking to start riding or who has a child wanting to learn to ride. They are also a wonderful show barn for anyone looking to continue their training and actively compete."

"I will never return to First Field, ever. I took my daughter her over the weekend and Carolyn was so rude to my daughter and myself and my daughter is 6 years old, who does that? I do not know if the prior review was written by Carolyn herself or another employee because the people at this location are beyond rude. Just based on my experience with dealing with the employees caused me to create an account on Google+ and warn all others because I have never written a review before in entire life but because of my experience I am going out of my way to inform you all. I do not recommend this business to anyone unless you like to give your money to people who have horrible attitudes and are so unbelievably stuck up and full of themselves. Go else where and aviod like the plague."
